Five Arches 82 Fishguard & Goodwick 75 (Five Arches 12 pts, Fishguard 2)

Hoping to build on last week's win against Pembroke Dock, the Five Arches welcomed Fishguard & Goodwick to a sunny Tenby. Neil and his rink of Mike, Jimmy and Peter,  played superbly on rink 1. Always in control, they led by 15 shots to 9 at tea and then by 23 shots to 11 after 15 ends. After a brief wobble on the 16th end, they completed a fine win by 27 shots to 19. Rink 2 saw Ben and his rink of John, Jonno and Steve involved in a much tougher battle. Every time they came close the Fishguard rink edged away again, trailing by 11 shots to 8 at tea, then 18 shots to 13 at 15 ends , they finally succumbed by 26 shots to 16. Ashley with Dai, David and Harold were involved in a game of 2 halves, after winning 8 of the first 10 ends to lead 11 shots to 2, they only picked up 3 shots in the next 10 to have a narrow 1 shot lead after 20 ends. However, picking up a count of 3 on the final end ensured a win by 17 shots to 13. Last but not least, Captain Ben and his rink of Roger, Tony and James carried on their fine form. Leading comfortably at tea by 14 shots to 3 , they relaxed a bit in the second half but won by 22 shots to 17. Another good victory for the Arches, we are still on course for our best finish for years. Next games , away to Saundersfoot on Wednesday 1st July then away to Pembroke Dock on Saturday 4th July.
