Tenby Arches Ladies v Picton

Tenby BadgeTenby Arches Ladies 4pts. Picton Ladies 2

 24 May 2014

Tenby Arches ladies played host to Haverfordwest Picton last Saturday on a day not contusive to playing bowls. Rain fell throughout, making it difficult for both sides. But it was the Arches ladies who triumphed by the narrowest of margins winning by 35 shots to 34 in a low scoring match.  Julia’s rink of Carol, Mair and Gerry were evenly matched against their Haverfordwest counterparts with the lead changing hands several times. On the last end, Tenby needed two shots to win and looked to have secured it with woods around the jack. Haverfordwest conceded just the one shot and despite Gerry measuring several woods had to admit defeat losing by 16 shots to 17. Alison and her team of Ginnie, Lon and Helen also had a tight game and with two ends to go
were four shots down. With defeat not an option, Alison’s ladies fought back to get three shots on each of the last two ends to win by 19 shots to 17. This was a hard won four points in poor bowling conditions, The Arches Ladies were well supported throughout by Audrey in her white waterproofs and sunglasses, ever the optimistic! Our missing teapot lady also turned up ready to play, but was not needed.
