Fishguard v Tenby Arches Ladies

Tenby HousePendine v Tenby Arches Ladies
June 19 2016

‘I can’t stand the rain’, the classic song by Tina Turner, was on the lips of all the Tenby Arches Ladies last Sunday as it never stopped raining during their away fixture at Fishguard. The game was in some doubt as the Fishguard captain wanted to call the game off, but as the men, who were also playing on the green, decided their game should go ahead, the ladies reluctantly followed suit. The ladies agreed to a shortened game of 18 ends, but this was further reduced during the game to 15 ends at the request of the Fishguard captain as the green became dangerous, with ladies slipping and falling in the continuous downpour. Helen’s rink of Meryl, Jan and Gerry managed to draw their game, but Alison and her rink of Lynn, Liz and Jo went down by five shots. This was not a game of finesse, but just bowl it as hard as you could and hope for the best. The result was disappointing for the Arches Ladies, losing against Fishguard Ladies who could only put out two rinks of three players. The adjusted score was Fishguard 24 shots to the Arches Ladies’ 19, with just the one league point going to Tenby. This was a setback for our ladies, but they were just happy to get off the green and get into some dry clothes. Tenby Arches Ladies are grateful for the continued support of Lesley, Martin and Kelly, of Tenby House.
