The annual Kath Cole Open Mixed Pairs competition was held earlier this week and a good time was had by all those who took part in the event. As expected. competition was keen. but friendly, with the initial stages of the popular two-day tournament being played on a round-robin basis. Entrants were split into two groups. with the top four in each going through to the finals day on Tuesday, when a number of the knockout matches had to go to sudden death extra ends to be decided. Eventual finalists were two of the host club's own pairs, with Steve Davies and Alison Redman just getting the better of Ken and Carol Lloyd by ll shots to eight in a closely con-tested 10-end final. Steve and Alison were presented with Kath Cole Cup by club chairman Fred Broomhead, while Ken and Carol received the Winnie Lamb Silver Salver.
