FIVE ARCHES 91 (12 pts) FISHGUARD AND GOODWICK 65 (2)

 Last Sunday, the Arches entertained Fishguard and Goodwick in a second division league fixture. The Arches were still on a high from their win against the Borderers, which saw them book their place in the Brains Cup final to be played on July 21 at Pendine, against St. Thomas, Haverfordwest. This was the Arches’ third home league game of the season and the players were looking forward to playing on our superb surface. On rink two, Dai, Ken, Bill and Ray Hine had a fine win against Davo Hughes and his crew. With the front end of Ray and Bill playing well and Dai and Ken building up the shot count, they ran out comfortable winners by 30 shots to eight.

Alongside them, Tiger and his cubs must have still been feasting on last week’s glory against the Borderers, as they were outbowled by Tom Jones and his men, going down by 33 shots to nine. On rink four, Gerald and his men had a tough game on their hands against visiting captain Mike Barringer and his rink. With Ron and Jim doing the business up front, though, Peter and Gerald were able to steer the rink to a five-shot win, to maintain their impressive form. The captain’s rink skipped by Ashley had the biggest win of the day. With Joe in superb form, backed up by Jonno, the back end of Ashley and Tony had only to add to the shot count as they ran out winners by 31 shots to eight.

Another great team performance which sees the Arches  maintain their top position in the Division Two table.
