Indoor Season Roundup

LaughingLaughingLaughing Many congratulations to Cameron White for winning the Under 18 Welsh Triples (again), to big sister Ysie for winning the Welsh Ladies Rinks Championship and playing for both the Under 25 and senior Welsh Ladies teams and finally for John Roberts being selected once again for the Welsh Men's team.

Milford Haven v Five Arches

Another disappointing day for the Five Arches. We were hoping for a miracle to avoid relegation but alas no joy.  However on the positive side, there were a number of bright performances which bodes well for next season. On rink 2 Ben was reunited with Ray and Steve after a long absence and with Stuart playing well at lead, they had a great victory against the experienced Roy Thomas. After a close start they edged away to win by 19 shots to 16 with Ben demonstrating his whole array of skills. Ashley and his rink of Howard, Johno and Ken were involved in a similar match on the adjoining rink. Evenly poised at tea , the match hinged on the loss of five shots on the eighteenth end having just retaken the lead.  They eventually lost by 22 shots to 18. 

Clive and his rink of John, Joe and Tony were involved in an even tighter tussle, close all the way through, the match was decided on the final end. The Five arches quartet were leading by 2 shots but a great last bowl by the opposing skip enabled Milford to pick up three shots and edge the win by 18 shots top 17. Finally on rink 5, Harold and his rink of Mike, Jim and Tony were blown away by an opening salvo of 18 unanswered shots in the first 7 ends. The Five Arches boys then settled down and battled well but could not pull back that initial barrage and finished losing by 26 shots to 7.  It has been a long hard season but hopefully next year we can bounce back and enjoy another promotion battle.
